Executive Producer: Kent Arneson
Kent was born in the small town of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. At the age of 5, his father was transferred from his rural home town to Houston, TX where he spent the rest of his childhood. He attended Texas A&M University where he studied various degrees but ultimately settled in the entertainment world with a focus on theatre. Kent began his career in summer stock at the Texas Shakespeare Festival in Kilgore, TX. In 2000, he was hired as staff at the Alley Theatre in Houston. After completing that season, he was offered an opportunity to tour where he was thrown into the fast paced ‘road-life’. His tours eventually landed him as a roadie in large stadium rock tours including bands like Metallica, Bon Jovi, Pearl Jam, Madonna and more which sent him all over the world and extensively in Europe. When not on tour, Kent settled back in his college town as the Lighting Director at the on campus theatre complex overseeing the Lighting systems for 3 theatre spaces. As a member of the special events department on campus he provided technical assistance all over campus including university meetings, Presidential speeches, football game day activities, concerts, etc.... He also acted as the resident designer for student performances and the lighting contact and Head Electrician when touring shows came to town.
In 2004, Kent seized an opportunity to live abroad in England where he worked as a technician in a first class touring house in Woking, England receiving national touring shows straight out of the West-End. After a predetermined short lived time in England, Kent moved back to the United States and started his own production company, Arneson Productions LLC, and began producing his first production, the Houston premiere of “Side Show.” As a new company, Kent took on many hats including but not limited to Set and Light Design, Budgeting, and General Management. His production opened in the summer of 2007 and received wonderful reviews and he was awarded “most promising new Theatre Company” in the Houston Press' 2007 “Ultimate Houston” magazine. As well as producing - he designed Lights for Main Street Theater’s productions of Design for Living, A Busy World is Hushed, and Third. He also designed Lights for TheatreLab’s Diva. As a Set Designer, he worked on Unhinged Productions’ Burn This.
Currently, Kent lives in NYC and spends most of his days working in Film and Television. His past shows include Smash, The Jim Gaffigan Show, Mozart in the Jungle, Elementary, and many more. He also spends time working with Local 4 and occasionally Local 1 on jobs around Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.
